27ª Volta Algarve Vela 2019

The 27th Tour of the Algarve à Vela started with a race between Lagos and Albufeira. The event includes about 160 crew members, who are distributed in 35 vessels, four of whom are Spanish nationals and the rest are Portuguese nationals.

During this competition, which consists of three different races, the participants made a total of 60 miles, along the Algarve coast, “under favorable but challenging sailing conditions”, according to Ginásio Clube Naval de Faro, which organizes the race.

The event also has a social framework, “which is reflected in moments intended for socializing, after the conclusion of each race, ending with a sunset at the point of arrival of the last race”, adds the club.

On the second day of competition, sailors leave Albufeira and finish their journey on Ilha da Culatra.

The last leg of the Volta à Algarve à Vela departs from Ilha da Culatra and ends in Tavira, where the 27th edition of this initiative will be concluded.

This edition, sponsored by Fidelidade and organized by the Ginásio Clube Naval de Faro, aims to «spread the taste for the sport, while contributing to the training of future generations of sailors in Portugal».
